    `Congo fever': Kerala asks to keep vigil

    Thiruvananthapruam: After the term of Chikunguniya and Dengue fever, here comes the next creating panic, the Congo fever. A new disease posing threat to the health sector, with the death of their persons including Malayalee nurse at Ahmadabad. The state health department asked the centre to have a detailed examinations and probe on the fever. Asha, from Pathanamthitta who was working at Shalby hospital in Ahmadabad died on the other day. The result of blood samples proved that they were affected with Congo fever. Crimean Congo Hemorrhage Fever (CCHF) is the full name of Congo fever. The virus which belong RNA viruses were shot from the African countries. The ticks, insects found in the body of domestic animals wild animals pose the fever. The larvae of the same are found in rabbit and chicken. When the ticks get matured they would shift to large animals. As per statistics four of 10 patients, would die. The virus sis growing largely in cattle and goats. If the ticks bite man, he would show symptoms of fever within three days. The symptoms are acute fever, stomach pain and vomiting which would continue for one week. In 75% patients the symptoms might affect the brain.
